Recently I had the privilege to photograph my second natural birth. I am always wary to say yes to photograph birth’s as it is such an incredible intimate event , that it nearly feels like I am intruding. Most hospital’s also do not allow it, which I can understand, as I had to work very hard to stay out of the way and under the radar.
I always make a effort to meet my client’s before the birth, so that I am at least not this total stranger witnessing them at their most vulnerable. I approach a birth like a documentary, focusing on emotions. Altough I am always nervous beforehand, I love doing these sessions and I am sure these photographs will be treasured for a lifetime.
I am sharing only a few photographs from this birth, mostly because I feel it is too intimate to share with the whole world, but it will at least give you a glimpse of what I captured (I hope).
